Winning an Election with Misinformation
Whether you despise Donald Trump or not, he and members of Congress and MAGA Supporters were successful, in my opinion, by sharing misinformation on Social Media.
Here is an example of just how a post and a video on X went viral. A post with a sensational headline filled with misinformation. A member of congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene, generated hundreds of thousands views and sharing, while accomplishing hate and divisive behavior. Here are the two posts.
Marjorie Taylor Greene post on 10/30/2024
Linemen just went on strike in NC after NOT being paid for 8 weeks by FEMA!
Kamala’s admin sent electrical transformers and hundreds of billions to Ukraine and FEMA takes care of migrants.
But won’t pay our linemen, who want to work & keep helping NC!
I came across this post on 10/2024 on X. It peaked my interest, because my son, who is a Linemen, was in the Asheville area working. My first thought was, this doesn’t make sense. He certainly would have said something on the phone to me when we spoke the previous evening.
I went online and found out that it had not been 8 weeks. The storm had only happened 4 weeks ago. The term “Linemen”, which was the hook, was cable installers. The pay that was due to them was for the time period from October 7-14th, not eight weeks.
She, a member of Congress, unleashed a sensational headline, by using the victims of North Carolina, which angered me beyond words. The responsible parties are the Congresswoman and Social Media. Between her and others, who hold positions of power, it’s unconscionable. This has to Stop.
